"E-ink screen" has become a new hot spot in wearable technology E Ink hopes to gain a place

On the morning of June 4, Beijing time, "Ink" display manufacturer E Ink launched a 1.73-inch display for the smart watch market on Monday, trying to get a slice of the market with unlimited potential.

E Ink (e-ink screen) used to be synonymous with e-book reader screens, producing screens for e-book readers from Amazon Kindle and other manufacturers. In 2009, the company was acquired by Yuantai Technology, a Taiwanese display manufacturer. With the transformation of the e-book reader market to full-color products such as Kindle Fire and Nook HD, E Ink has been looking for opportunities to tap new market opportunities.

Today, E Ink and other e-book reader screens manufactured by some manufacturers have been widely used in various electronic products, such as wireless hotspots and retail shelf displays. Wearable technology is a new hotspot in the current technology industry. Many technology companies, including Apple, have expressed interest in the wearable market, especially smart watches. In this context, E Ink hopes to have a place in this market in the future.

E Ink released a 1.73-inch display for the wearable market on Monday, with a resolution of 320X240 pixels and 16 gray levels. The Sonostar smartwatch is the first product to adopt this display, and it was unveiled at the Computex exhibition in Taiwan on the same day.
