Xiaomi co-founder, President Lin Bin and Xiaomi Global Vice President Hugo Barra presided over the media meeting. Lin Bin said that Xiaomi plans to prepare in the coming months to sell Xiaomi products in the United States through Mi.com’s independent e-commerce platform, continue to promote it through social media, and actively interact with US MIUI users.

He said that MIUI has already had a considerable number of users in the United States. The United States is the most developed market in the world. With the highest quality users, entering the US market is of great significance to Xiaomi.

Lin Bin also announced that MIUI's global network of active users has reached 100 million, including 31 languages. He also stressed that Xiaomi will not consider listing in the next 3-5 years.

Bara stressed that Xiaomi would only sell peripherals such as batteries, headphones and wristbands in the United States at the outset and would not be anxious to release core products such as mobile phones, tablets and televisions. Lin Bin explained that this involves a series of services such as software, content, logistics, and after-sales services. It requires a lot of preparation. Xiaomi has no timetable.

In answering the question from Sina Technology, Lin Bin did not evade patents. He said that millet only has a five-year history. Compared with Huawei ZTE, which has a history of 10-20 years, Xiaomi is bound to face patent challenges. This is also the only way to go. Lin Bin emphasized that Xiaomi will face patent issues with a very direct attitude and increase his efforts to conduct patent research and development. He will gradually solve this problem in the future.

This is also the first time that Xiaomi has held an event in the United States. Dozens of reporters from famous U.S. media including Bloomberg, Reuters and Recode have participated in the event. The two former Google employees spent two hours and briefed the US media on Xiaomi’s development experience, including successful experiences in social media marketing, interacting with users, and selling hardware at a low price.
