Samsung wants to grab orders for Apple chips? TSMC expressed that it wants more

Recently, South Korean media revealed that in order to compete for the order of Apple's A-series chips in 2018, Samsung has accelerated the development process of the 7-nm process. Moreover, Samsung is also very confident about its own craftsmanship and future robberies. This time, Apple A10 chip supplier TSMC has something to say. TSMC recently revealed to the media that its first-generation 7nm process has produced a chip yield of 76%.

According to TSMC's estimation, according to the current development speed, the company's 7nm chip can be mass-produced in the first half of next year, and it will be ahead of Samsung in terms of process alone. Previously, some analysts believed that Samsung's 7nm chip may not be expected to be mass-produced until the end of 2018. Therefore, it will be very difficult for Samsung to grab orders for A12 processing chips. Moreover, TSMC is already deploying second-generation 7nm process technology.

It is understood that TSMC's second-generation 7nm process will use extreme ultraviolet light (EUV), and its density is expected to increase by 1.2 times compared to the first generation, increase the speed by 10%, and reduce power consumption by 15%. Samsung was a supplier of A-series chips for many years, and was exclusively available before iPhone 6. However, due to patent disputes between Samsung and Apple, coupled with last year's "chip gate" incident, now they want to get Apple's chip orders, can be described as difficult.
