According to Bloomberg, Tesla plans to announce a new solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging combination system at the October 28 conference.
As the leader of both Tesla and SolarCity, Elon Musk revealed his new product plan on Twitter on Thursday, but did not elaborate. He said, "The Tesla/SolarCity solar roof was announced on October 28, integrating Powerwall 2.0 and Tesla charging."
Lei Feng network (search "Lei Feng network" public concern) previously reported that Musk said in early August, the end of this year SolarCity will launch two new products, one of which is the development of integrated photovoltaic technology "roof products."
On August 1, SolarCity, the largest rooftop solar company in the United States, also agreed to Tesla’s offer. SolarCity was established in October 2008 and its business is mainly divided into three categories: installation and sales of photovoltaic systems, photovoltaic leasing and PPA, and energy efficiency (energy saving) services.
The new product is also a long-term vision of Musk. He hopes that the future green family will use solar energy, use battery energy storage, such as charging the car, even if the sun is down. He said in August that SolarCity is developing a "solar roof" that incorporates solar technology but does not use standard photovoltaic panels.
Tesla released Powerwall's rechargeable home lithium-ion battery system more than a year ago. It can store energy from grids and solar panels and use them when needed. Coupled with the roof's solar energy, future homes will really not need a grid.
