1. The dead point of the LCD panel

Before introducing the level of the liquid crystal panel, the author first introduces the specific concept of the "bad point" existing on the liquid crystal panel, so that the level of the liquid crystal panel can be distinguished based on this. The liquid crystal panel is composed of a large number of pixels, and both of them can display black and white and red, yellow and blue primary colors. Then, by combining the pixels showing different colors, we can see the image displayed on the LCD panel. However, a few pixels on the LCD panel cannot produce color changes. Regardless of the image displayed on the LCD screen, these pixels always display the same color. These faulty pixels cannot be repaired and can only be solved by replacing the entire LCD panel. These faulty pixels are usually divided into two categories, where "dark dots" are "black dots" that cannot be displayed regardless of changes in the screen display image, and what is even more annoying is that they always shine when turned on. "Bright spot."

The development of liquid crystal display technology has not been able to fundamentally overcome this shortcoming. Because the liquid crystal panel is composed of two glass plates, the middle interlayer is a crystal droplet with a thickness of about 5 microns. These crystal droplets are evenly spaced and contained in tiny cells, each of which forms a pixel on the screen. Under the magnifying glass, the pixels are square, and one pixel is a luminous point. Each light-emitting point has an independent transistor to control the strength of its current. If the transistor that controls the point is broken, the spot will always be lit or not lit. This is the bright or dark point mentioned above, collectively referred to as the "bad point"!

2. LCD panel rating

According to the quality, the LCD panel can be divided into three levels: A, B, and C. The basis for the classification is the number of bad points. However, there are no relevant rigid regulations in the world, so the grade standards in different countries and regions are not the same. Normally, the number of dead pixels in the LCD panel is A level within 5, and the number of dead pixels is more than 5 and less than 10 are classified as Class B. If the number of dead pixels is more than 10, it belongs to the C-class panel. In principle, the A-class panel is most suitable for the production of the display, but the production of the B-class panel by the LCD panel is also inevitable, so most of these B-class panels will be digested by the brand-name display manufacturers. The C-class panel is completely unsuitable for the production of displays, and most of them are cut into small-area liquid crystal panels for other fields. However, there are also very few LCD monitor manufacturers that will adopt C-class panels. Two or three years ago, there were low-priced inferior LCD monitors that disrupted the market.

Of course, in addition to the number of bad points, the performance of the B-class and C-class panels in other aspects can not be compared with the A-class panel. Compared with the A-class panel, the brightness of the B-class and C-class panels is relatively uneven, the color saturation is relatively insufficient, the image color reproduction ability is poor, and the appearance may even be damaged. In addition to using professional instruments to determine the level of the LCD panel, consumers can also use the naked eye for intuitive identification. It is best to use the known Class A panels for comparison, and the Class B and Class C panels will immediately show their original shape. In addition, panel manufacturers also divide the A-level panel into three steps: A++, A+, and A. The best quality LCD panel is suitable for consumers with higher display quality requirements. In general, the number of dark spots of the A-level panel is less than 3, the number of bright spots is less than 3, and the sum of bright and bad points is less than 5; the number of dark spots of the A+-level panel is less than 3, and There is no bright spot on the whole screen, and the number of bad points is less than 3; the A++ level panel has neither bright spots nor dark spots, and the number of bad points is 0. A few LCD manufacturers claim that their display products have no bright spots, and their liquid crystal displays use A+-class panels.

3. Panel identification method

As competition intensifies and technology levels improve, LCD manufacturers have raised raw material standards. Internal quality control such as production and inspection has been strengthened, greatly reducing the frequency of occurrence of dead pixels. The method of detecting the dead pixels is also relatively simple. As long as the brightness and contrast of the LCD screen are adjusted to the maximum display reversed image or the minimum display is completely black, it will be found how many bright spots and how many dark spots are on the screen. As long as the number of dead pixels does not exceed a certain standard, it is normal to have a plurality of bad points, but it is better not to be lower than the A-level panel standard.

In addition, you can use other professional testing software to test other indicators of the liquid crystal display. For example, NOKIAMONITOR TEST is a test program that consumers can bring with them on the disk. The software provides a total of 15 options, namely Geometry geometry, Brightness and contrast brightness, contrast, High Voltage, Colors color, To control panel/display control panel display properties, Convergence convergence, Focus focus, Resolution resolution, Moire water ripple, Readability text clarity, Jitter jitter, Sound noise and more. For liquid crystal displays, in addition to not being able to test the response time, other main performance parameters are at a glance, and the bad points that consumers pay attention to are even more important. If the color purity, contrast, and brightness of the display are problematic, the B- and C-level panels will be invisible.

4. The brand of LCD

Class B and C panels should have been rejected or used for other purposes, but were used by a few display manufacturers because of their low price and lucrative profitability. It is the result of the recent influx of B-class panels that caused an uproar. Therefore, consumers must pay attention to the quality of LCD monitors when purchasing LCD monitors in the near future. Unless the manufacturer explicitly declares that it has adopted a liquid crystal panel of Class A or higher, it will still buy a brand with better reputation. The display is definitely one of the most competitive areas of the current competition. This phenomenon has continued from the era of CRT monitors to the LCD era.

Samsung, LG, Philips, BenQ, and ViewSonic have enjoyed high reputation in the display field, and all five manufacturers started the LCD market earlier. With the preconceived advantages, coupled with the brand awareness in the entire display field, the five major display manufacturers have won recognition from many users in the LCD market, and also won a large market share. As we all know, the difficulty of building a brand is quite large. So for the five first-tier manufacturers, the use of B-class panels is definitely not worth the loss, so their products are still trustworthy. In addition, these "new" manufacturers of AOC, their products also dare to play the "no highlights" slogan, it is also worthy of consumer trust.
