STMicroelectronics (ST) announced at the Beijing Media Communications Conference on May 15 that it will begin mass production of the entry-level STM32 F0 family of 32-bit MCUs based on the ARM Cortex-M0 processor core. It is suitable for applications such as industrial controllers, home automation, printers and white goods.
The main features of STM32 F0 include: 1 performance at 38MHz, 38DMIPS, independent third-party evaluation agency CoreMark score of 68; 24MHz, 22DMIPS, CoreMark39. 11 peripherals mapped in 5-channel DMA, combined with bus matrix, Synchronize the execution code in the flash with the DMA data transfer.
Two of the four low-power modes include a 5.3μA stop mode, a real-time clock running at 2.8μA standby mode, and a battery-powered mode with a real-time clock running at 0.4μA. 1.8V/2-3.6V supply voltage. Power consumption efficiency is shown in Figure 1.
Other features include: 11MSPS 12-bit ADC, 12-bit DAC, 2 voltage comparators; 1 Mbps I2C interface, support for ultra-fast mode; SPI interface, support for 4-16-bit data frames; HDMI CEC; PWM 16-bit and 32-bit timing The device can map 17 signal input capture/output comparisons to 28 pins; a 16-bit 3-phase motor controller.
2 Compliance with Class B standards, RAM hardware parity, clock security system (CSS), dual watchdog timer, cyclic redundancy check (CRC). Consumer Electronics Controller (CEC) hardware supporting the HDMI interface, driven by a low-speed 32kHz external clock source; to reduce system cost, it can also be driven by an 8MHz internal clock source.
A dedicated evaluation board for the STM32 F0 Discovery suite, compatible with the STM32 software development environment developed by third-party software development tools providers Atollic, IAR, Keil and TASKING.
Daniel Colonna, Director of Marketing, STMicroelectronics Microcontrollers, said: "At present, 8-bit MCUs account for about half of China's MCU market. The market target of STM32 F0 is 8-bit and 16-bit MCUs, enabling 8/16-bit MCU developers to obtain Low power, low cost 32-bit performance."
The STM32 F0 is available in 32-pin UFQFPN32, 48-pin LQFP48 and 64-pin LQFP64 packages, and is also available in 20-pin and 100-pin packages. The flash memory capacity is 16kB-128kB, and the SRAM capacity is up to 20kB.
