Between 2002 and 2007, the number of patent applications for TFT-LCD drive technology in China increased dramatically. According to the search, as of October 15, 2008, there were 694 Chinese patents (including patent applications) related to the drive circuit in the TFT-LCD field.

It can be seen from the figure that during the period from 1995 to 2001, the number of patent applications for TFT-LCD drive technology in China increased gradually, but the increase rate was slow. The technology on the G09G3/36 classification developed earlier, and the number of patents has increased year by year, especially in the last three years. Considering the 18-month period of Chinese patent disclosure, some patents were not disclosed in 2008, so the 2008 data is not used as the basis for analysis, but it is predicted that the increase in the number of patents in the first three years should be continued in 2008.

The technology development of the G02F1/1362 classification is relatively late, but the number of patents has increased rapidly year by year. The rapid increase in the number of patents in 2007 and 2008 indicates that the technology in this field has developed rapidly in the last two years and is worthy of attention.

Japanese and Korean companies control TFT-LCD drive technology
