Chet Faliszek, author of Half-Life and Portal, had left Valve more than a month ago. For more than a decade, Faliszek has mainly served as a storyteller at Valve. But recently, he has been a “virtual reality ambassador†and has participated in activities such as GDC and Slush Play to exchange games and experiences based on SteamVR technology with developers.
Valve has done many years of VR experiments internally, and Faliszek plays a very important role in it. He has turned the company into one of the best communicators and taught people how to use technology to make the most of their work.
Faliszek stated: "I have been working with Valve for more than 12 years, but I don't have to be too long as a fan. I can't wait to see what will happen next."
Faliszek didn't mention whether Half-Life 3 was coming out quickly, nor did he say what he was doing (whether he was going to start a VR business?). But on Twitter, he didn't go for a trip in the last month. Instead, he wandered with his cat.
In addition to Faliszek, there are some noteworthy Valve authors who also left the company. Erik Wolpaw, the co-author of Portal, left in February and Marc Laidlaw, a half-life co-author, left in early 2016.
