Lock screen wake-up trigger Win10 blue screen? Check these places

Although Windows 10 is significantly more stable than previous versions, blue screens or system freezes are still rare under normal usage. However, due to new features introduced by Microsoft, it's quite common for the system to experience issues when locking the screen (Win+L) or entering standby mode.

If you've encountered this issue before, here are some tried and tested solutions that have worked for many users.

The simplest method involves resetting the system files responsible for the lock screen and wake-up process in Windows 10. Open the Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands:

After testing several scenarios, I found that the desktop version of NetEase Cloud Music running in the background can trigger a memory read/write error, leading to a blue screen. Similarly, other non-UWP music clients may also cause similar problems occasionally, while the built-in Groove Music does not.

If you prefer not to change your music app, try pausing playback before locking your screen, or update to the latest version. Using the UWP version might help resolve the issue completely.

As for blue screens on the lock screen, there could be multiple causes. Issues with BIOS settings, such as not setting the CPU to the lowest frequency, or outdated drivers for M.2 SSDs, might contribute to the problem. It’s worth checking each one step by step to fully resolve the issue.
