PCB business owner's distress: new generation of workers are not rich before lazy

At the recent PCB (printed circuit board) industry gathering, the topic of SME owners did not fall into the industry itself, but was an external factor. Yu Shijie, general manager of Shenzhen Hangsheng Circuit Technology Co., Ltd., said that the new generation of industrial workers did not get rich before lazy, and there was no previous worker effort. This view was shared by several entrepreneurs present here.

Although the electronics industry did not perform well last year, Hangsheng Technology's sales increased from 120 million yuan to 150 million yuan, which is a company recognized by the industry as a company with strong marketing capabilities. Yu Shijie’s concern is not a financial problem. “There was indeed financial difficulty at the beginning of development. It has now passed this stage.”

The main problem facing Shijie is that in December last year, the number of employees dropped from nearly 600 to more than 300. Among the resignations, some are key positions. For example, the main welder operator has left more than 20, and only the temporary transfer of personnel from other positions has been drawn. This means that training costs increase, and the company has a large number of orders to complete. He asked the person in charge of human resources whether he could open two shifts (that is, two working groups allow the equipment to run continuously), but the answer was "manpower shortage." "If you can only open one class, you will lose very badly. The company has 60% of the orders are foreign orders, delivery time is very strict, these people are difficult to complete the delivery period." Yu Shijie said.

In fact, Yu Shijie thought of many ways to retain resigners, such as transportation tolls, but the effectiveness was not great. “We can't wait to sign a three-year contract and the workers are unwilling.” Yu Shijie reluctantly said that although the employee signed a one-year contract, the employee should be informed one month in advance of leaving, but in fact, many workers will leave at any time. "For example, now that wages have been paid off, workers may leave immediately, not even the half-month wages already paid. Some will choose to go to the Labor Bureau to complain about wages."

Speaking of human resources, the dark-skinned Shaanxi people are obviously a bit excited. In the past two years, wages have risen steadily. Last year, wages reached 23 million yuan, but people are getting more and more difficult. To this end, Yu Shijie also found a friend who had known the team in the village, and now an old friend of the village branch secretary said that he could not do anything to help him. “In the rural areas, the agricultural tax is not exempted, there is no need to pay public grain, and there are subsidies for planting, so a new generation of pressure exists. Not so big.” Yu Shijie sometimes finds 20 to 30 workers to hold discussions, hoping to understand what the workers really think.

In fact, Yu Shijie just adapts too much to old workers and is not adaptable to new workers. This is a migrant worker who grew up in two environments.

After working in the 1970s, Li Jingke, a staff member of ZTE Corporation, who was born in the 1970s, he was obsessed with improving his parents' living conditions. “I used to work at a Huawei company and worked overtime 20 hours a week. I don’t want to lose my job.”

Most entrepreneurs have experienced this stage. They recalled that at the time the workers did not dare to go back to save their relatives from their jobs. “Taiwanese enterprises are fighting their teeth and workers are switching to eat. The last meal is cold, and they continue to work.” Wang Yumei, general manager of Shenzhen Dongfang Yuzhi Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. said that if any factory does not work overtime, people are reluctant to go. Because the increase in income is mainly due to overtime work, now she sees some workers who “have just paid a salary for half a month. The walk is very imposing. The rest of the month will be paralyzed because the money is spent.”

The new generation that grew up on the Internet is more concerned with personalities and enjoyment. They are reluctant to work boring on the assembly line. Their work is not entirely for making money, nor for overtime, nor is it too much. Less income and more fatigue. Many people not only don’t send money to their families, but they also provide subsidies at home. Because of this, Yu Shijie paid more attention to the core team members. Last year, the mid-level salary was 80,000 yuan, and this year it was ready to rise to 100,000 yuan. He expects labor costs to rise by 20% this year.

Although for business owners, the increase in labor costs will cause trouble, but for the workers, it is the well-being of the place, which means more income and freedom.

Entrepreneurs can find other ways to offset this risk. Shenzhen Huaxiang Circuit Technology Co., Ltd., with more than 800 employees, produced more than 200 million yuan last year. Chairman Liao Qifa said that the company invested more than 10 million yuan in automatic machine procurement last year, including more than 10 automatic feeders, each of which can replace Two people, one machine 50,000 to 60,000 yuan, still worthwhile calculation. In addition, he has planned to build factories in Jiangxi to better recruit workers.

Liao Qifa did research that the Japanese company's PCB products accounted for 20% of labor costs, and China was about 10%. The difference is the profits of Chinese companies. If the labor cost also rises to 20%, the Chinese PCB industry will have no advantage. According to statistics, the global PCB output value reached US$55 billion in 2010, of which China accounted for half.
