STMicroelectronics (ST) and Quantenna CommunicaTIons have jointly released a Wi-Fi set-top box reference design platform that can greatly accelerate the development of wireless set-top boxes. When deploying a multi-machine shared digital video recorder (multi-room digital video recorder; DVR) service, the reference design can greatly increase flexibility, video quality, and cost-effectiveness.
This newly launched Wi-Fi reference design is based on ST ’s high-performance STIH207 system-on-a-chip and Quantenna ’s QHS710 4x4 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) chipset, making it easy for major telecom operators in the market to deploy IPTV and video-on-demand System (VOD) services. The combination of these two technologies provides customers with advanced Wi-Fi reference designs, which can realize high-definition video user experience with high stability, and accelerate the time-to-market for telecom operators and service providers.
