On July 24, 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Department of Science and Technology released the notice titled "29 Light Industry, Electronics Industry Standards and 3 Electronic Industry National Standards for Public Notice." Among these, four standards are directly related to lighting products. Below is a detailed overview of each:
Firstly, **QB/T 2516-2017 "Xenon Light"** provides comprehensive guidelines regarding xenon lamps. It outlines the classification, naming conventions, main dimensions, basic parameters, technical requirements, testing methodologies, inspection protocols, and specifications for labeling, packaging, transportation, and storage. This standard applies to xenon lamps with transparent glass envelopes up to 3,500 watts. These lamps should operate using AC power at either 220V or 380V and a frequency of 50Hz, depending on their specifications. With the use of a reference ballast and trigger that comply with the stipulations in Appendix A, the lamp must successfully ignite when the input voltage ranges between 92% and 106% of its rated value.
Secondly, **QB/T 5207-2017 "Limit Requirements for Adding æ°ª-85 and é’-232 to Lighting Products"** establishes the maximum permissible amounts of æ°ª-85 and é’-232 that can be incorporated into lighting products. This standard pertains to the following types of lighting:
- Metal halide lamps or arc tubes;
- Short arc mercury lamps;
- Short arc xenon lamps;
- Automotive bulbs for road vehicles.
Thirdly, **QB/T 5208-2017 "Method for Evaluating the Color Rendering of White Light Sources"** introduces a methodology to evaluate the color rendering of white light sources through two key metrics: the color fidelity index (Rf) and the color gamut index (Rg). This standard is particularly useful for assessing indoor and outdoor lighting systems designed for general illumination.
Lastly, **QB/T 5209-2017 "Performance Requirements for Integrated LED Lamps Used in Decorative Lighting"** sets out the criteria for integrated LED lamps intended for decorative purposes. It covers product categorization, nomenclature, performance specifications, testing procedures, quality control measures, and labeling and packaging requirements. These lamps are specifically designed for non-directional use in residential and similar environments, integrating both LED light sources and stable ignition mechanisms. They must meet the following conditions:
- Operate at an AC voltage of 220V and a frequency of 50Hz;
- Utilize screw-type lamp heads compliant with GB/T 1406.1 or bayonet-style lamp heads as per GB/T 1406.5;
- Adhere to the dimensional standards outlined in GB/T 7249, with a maximum lamp diameter not exceeding 50mm.
All such lamps should function correctly across a voltage range of 92% to 106% of the rated supply voltage or nominal operating voltage, and they must perform reliably within an ambient temperature range from -20°C to 45°C.
As part of this notice, it is important for manufacturers and users alike to adhere to these standards to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry regulations. These standards play a crucial role in maintaining high-quality lighting solutions while protecting consumer health and environmental sustainability.
