The principle of LED lighting and the problems that need attention in the design

LED is the abbreviation of LightEmittingDiode , translated into Chinese as " Light Emitting Diode " . As the name suggests, this is a kind of semiconductor device that can emit light. Led is a semiconductor optoelectronic device, which has the characteristics of a semiconductor rectifying diode in addition to its luminescent properties. Moreover, light having a certain wavelength can be emitted with a positive bias applied. This luminescence characteristic occurs in the positive bias portion of the diode characteristic curve.

The structure of the LED is mainly composed of a PN junction chip, an electrode, and an optical system. When a forward bias is applied to the electrodes, electrons and holes are injected into the P region and the N region, respectively , when the unbalanced minority carriers are combined with the majority carriers. The excess energy is converted into light energy in the form of radiated photons.

The PN junction forms a predetermined barrier according to its terminal voltage. When the forward bias voltage is applied, the barrier decreases, and the majority carriers in the P and N regions diffuse toward each other. Since the electron mobility is much larger than the hole mobility, a large amount of electrons diffuse into the P region. It constitutes the injection of minority carriers in the P region. These electrons recombine with the holes on the valence band. The energy obtained during compounding is released in the form of light energy. This is the principle of PN junction illumination. Due to the large energy gap of the P region. The light radiation cannot be sent to the conduction band, so the absorption of light does not occur, so that it can be directly transmitted to the outside of the LED , thereby reducing the loss of light energy.

When the LED fluorescent lamp market is very active, the manufacturers are mainly divided into three categories: one is the original factory that makes LED chips , and the downstream is infiltrated into the downstream, and there is not much knowledge of circuit knowledge and LED fluorescent lamp power; the second category is the factory that used to be ordinary lighting.
