Essential Phone launched an optional 360-degree camera accessory earlier this year, but it hasn't much use other than shooting 4K video and photos. Now, Essential has updated the MOD to support 360-degree live broadcasts. Facebook Live has become its first partner and Twitter is joining soon.
To make a 360° streaming video live on Facebook, you need to broadcast live in a dedicated 360° APP and then log in to Facebook to start playing. The camera is able to support panoramic audio, which means that the viewer can turn at various angles to hear more (or less) certain sound from different directions. It can also support 4K or 2K streaming media, users can choose before live online. In a blog post detailing today's update, Essential also provides methods for uploading 360° content to various media platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo.
Essential's 360° camera accessory is sold separately from the Essential Phone itself, but if purchased on a mobile phone, the camera will be priced down by $20.
