Shenzhen Proview registered the iPad trademark in mainland China in 2001 and launched related products. At that time, Apple's iPad was not yet produced. Apple originally purchased the iPad trademark from Taiwan Proview, and Taiwan Proview and Shenzhen Proview are subsidiaries of Hong Kong Proview. The focus of the case is whether the trademark that Apple obtained from Taiwan Proview is non-legitimate. inside China.

At the end of 2011, the case decided that Apple would lose the case in the first instance. Although Apple chose to continue the appeal, people in the industry believe that the chance of reversing the case at the second instance is very small. At present, many regions across the country have started to discontinue Apple iPad products. If the second-instance apple loses its case again, it will have to face a huge fine of 30 billion yuan, and purchase trademarks or product names from its rivals. According to Proview lawyers, Proview was interested in out-of-court reconciliation, but Apple has always been arrogant in this case. He has no comment and no intention of reconciliation, so Proview will insist on safeguarding rights.

On February 14, 2012, Apple finally broke the silence and responded to the case for the first time. It accused Proview of refusing to honor its promise and saying that it had obtained support from the Hong Kong court. In this regard, Proview Shenzhen lawyer said that the two parties' lawsuits in Hong Kong have not yet been held. There is currently no evidence that Apple has received the support of the Hong Kong courts, and the so-called "refusal to fulfill their promises", that is the matter of Taiwan Proview, and Shenzhen Proview does not matter.

It is reported that the second instance of the case will be heard in the High Court of Guangdong Province on February 29.
