COB technology is renowned for its ease of achieving dimming and high brightness, while also addressing issues like chromatic aberration and multiple side spots. As such, it has become increasingly popular in hotel and commercial store lighting applications. Over time, COB packaging has emerged as the industry standard, with both domestic and international manufacturers introducing a range of innovative COB products.
With the growing maturity of COB technology, domestic manufacturers are now able to compete with their foreign counterparts in terms of performance within a highly competitive market. On the technological front, leading domestic LED packaging companies continue to innovate in packaging techniques and solutions. Recently, a new type of COB light source known as CCOB, which features a uniform cross-distribution composite package, has entered the market.
The term CCOB derives its name from the first "C," which stands for Compound & Cross:
1. Cross: Refers to the even distribution of different color-temperature emitting chips.
2. Compound: Refers to the use of a flip-chip structure, where a bare chip unit is covered with a first phosphor layer, followed by a second phosphor layer over the first, combining different chip units to produce varying color temperatures.
In simpler terms, CCOB is a two-color COB light source with a uniform cross-distribution composite package. By adjusting the brightness ratio of two different-colored chips, the COB light color can be altered.

To gain a deeper understanding of the dimming and color performance of CCOB, Guangzhou Tianxin Optoelectronics provided us with samples for evaluation. The ceiling light featuring a CCOB source measures 135mm in diameter and uses a combination of lenses and reflectors.

The COB light source itself has a diameter of approximately 14mm. Through the fluorescent adhesive, it is evident that the COB lamp beads in the light source are yellow and white, with 22 yellow beads (low color temperature) and 22 white beads (high color temperature) arranged alternately.

Beyond this, further research into the potential applications of CCOB reveals its versatility in creating dynamic lighting environments. The ability to adjust color temperature through precise control of the brightness ratio between different colored chips opens up exciting possibilities for lighting designers. Additionally, the integration of advanced phosphor layers ensures superior color accuracy and consistency, making CCOB an ideal choice for modern architectural and decorative lighting projects.
