August 3 International Report: Intel said Friday that its third-quarter revenue will be lower than the company's previous expectations.
Intel expects revenue of 11 billion U.S. dollars in the third quarter, which will fluctuate by 200 million U.S. dollars; it was expected to be between 11.2 billion and 12 billion U.S. dollars.
Intel said that due to weak consumer PC demand in mature markets to reduce revenue, but supply chain inventory is in line with Intel's adjusted expectations. Intel expects to coincide with IDC's third quarter forecast. IDC said last week that global market processor demand will be weak in August.
Intel expects gross profit margin in the third quarter of 66%, up and down one percentage point, lower than the previous forecast of 67%, up and down two percentage points. Intel said: "The stable demand for higher average product prices will partially offset the negative impact of sales decline.
Intel expects no change to other indicators in the third quarter. The third quarter does not expect any acquisition impact.
Intel last week stated that it intends to spend US$7 billion to acquire security software company McAfee, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year; and it acquired the Texas Instruments Cable Modem Division. The transaction amount has not been disclosed and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
