To help extend the LED (light emitting diode) and the performance and service life of the LED assembly, Momentive Performance Materials Company introduced a new family of heat-conductive silicone products, and production plans for the LED assembly. Momentive's TIA hot melt adhesive is a liquid material for heat dissipation that can be used in a variety of thermal conductivity levels, viscosities and cure curves to meet a wide range of design needs. New hot melt adhesives, including the TIA221G and TIA216G, are easy to use and help extend the life of LED bulbs by helping to manage the heat generated by the voltage regulator driver. Since the driver is a three-dimensional design and is typically packaged in a bulb fixture, it is often necessary to use a liquid heat sink material that conforms to the illumination assembly design and can flow into the driver cavity to form a slave to the bulb fixture. For designs that require mechanical adhesion, TIA thermal adhesives are ideal for your consideration. This range, including the TIA250R and TIA600R products, has a room temperature and heat-accelerated cure formulation that adheres securely to a wide range of substrates. For example, TIA0220 thermal adhesive achieves non-corrosive adhesion to most metals including copper, plastics, ceramics, glass and other surfaces without the need for a primer.

The TIS series of thermal greases, including the TIS380C, cure at room temperature and can be used to minimize thermal resistance in LED lighting assemblies. As soft thermal interface materials (TIMs), these thermal pastes eliminate stress on precision fittings and ensure that oil leaks and volatiles are kept to a minimum – all of which contribute to stability in high temperature environments.

Momentive's TIA hot melt adhesives, adhesives and thermal grease form a heat dissipation path between the LED display panel and the heat sink to help protect the LED during heat dissipation. TIA products are in liquid form, making it easy to accurately apply a precise amount of material to a specific location, and finally solidify into a thin glue line. This helps to increase the overall efficiency of the heat transfer process. The new product offers a thermal conductivity of 1 ? 6 Watt/mK and can be applied by drop or screen printing depending on the grade.
