Pearl TV and Sony Develop the First ATSC 3.0 Electronic Program List

The ABC Group Pearl TV and Sony Electronics have jointly created an audience navigation module for the next generation of television in the United States, a new type of television program guide that can respond to user requests.

This new channel navigation tool is part of the next-generation ATSC 3.0 interactive content environment that will be used in the Phoenix Model Market program. Ten TV stations in Phoenix participated in this program.

As part of the cooperation agreement, Sony will also join Pearl's "Phoenix Demonstration Market" program later in 2018. And Pearl TV will be the first to demonstrate the prototype implementation of Sony's complete ATSC 3.0 protocol stack at the CES show in Las Vegas.

In addition, Sony's semiconductor solutions also entered the advanced stage of ATSC 3.0 receiver demodulator chip R&D. Sony has conducted field tests in North Carolina and Maryland. The company also plans to conduct additional site tests at the WJW test stand in Ohio.
