IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6, Internet Protocol version 6) is a version of the next generation Internet Protocol designated as the successor to IPv4. IPv6 is a network layer protocol for packet switched internet. The main reason for redesigning the Internet Protocol was that in the early 1990s, there were concerns that the IPv4 IP address would not be sufficient for 10 years (in fact, it was quite a few years). In December 1998, the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) introduced the definition of IPv6 by publishing the Internet Standard Specification (RFC 2460).
IPv6 has a much larger address space than IPv4. This is because IPv6 uses a 128-bit address, while IPv4 uses only 32-bit. Therefore, the new address space supports 2 128th power (about 3.4 &TImes; 10E38) IP addresses. This extension provides flexible address allocation and routing forwarding and eliminates the need for Network Address Translation (NAT). In the past, because IP addresses were limited, NAT was widely used to reduce the consumption of IP addresses. Based on a population of 7 billion people, each person can get an average of 4.86 x 10E28 IPv6 addresses.
With the development of the Internet, the advantages of ipv6 are self-evident. Many people want to use free ipv6, but can't determine whether their network environment supports ipv6. Here are a few simpler test methods.
If your computer is a win7/8 system, you do not need to configure ipv6; xp users need to manually configure themselves:
Start--Run, enter "cmd" Enter, then enter "ipv6 install" and press Enter.
Check if your computer has a network connection, such as the connection is normal for the next test.
Test Method 1: Enter the URL "http://test-ipv6.com/" in the address bar of the browser, and the results of your ipv6 network test will be given on the page, as shown in the figure below.
Test Method 2: Enter the URL "http://ipv6.jmu.edu.cn/" in the address bar of the browser. If the tiger is dancing at the bottom right of the page, congratulations, your ipv6 is fine.
Test Method 3: Enter the URL "http://ipv6test.google.com/" in the address bar of the browser. If the following interface appears, congratulations, your network supports ipv6.
Your ip address is traditional &TImes;&TImes;&TImes;. ×××. ×××. The ××× method is the IP4 network. If it is not the case, it is mixed by alphanumeric. The other one is IP6. In addition, you will be prompted when you access the network.
Secondly, only some universities and special-purpose companies have adopted the IPV6 model. Therefore, you generally will not use this network protocol.
