According to a recent report from Yonhap News Agency on July 24, a research team led by Professor Quanning Kui at the Korea Institute of Medical Research affiliated with Pusan National University announced that their AI-based diagnostic system project has been chosen as one of the new initiatives by South Korea's Ministry of Education. Over the next three years, this team aims to develop a clinical-grade Korean medical diagnostic system leveraging advanced artificial intelligence technologies.
Professor Quanning Kui mentioned that this Korean medical diagnostic expert system project represents a continuation of the groundbreaking work initiated back in 1987 by the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). This marks the creation of what could potentially become South Korea's first-ever disk operating system version of a medical diagnostic expert system tailored specifically for traditional Korean medicine.
The upcoming system is expected to incorporate innovative elements such as constitutional medicine based on the four diagnostic methods and imaging medicine, both of which aim to highlight unique aspects of Korean healthcare practices.
