On July 14th, Samsung introduced The Frame TV, originally showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the U.S., to China. Its Chinese name translates to "Painted Wall Art TV." The unveiling took place at the art-filled Shanshui Art Museum in Beijing, perfectly complementing the new television’s aesthetic appeal.
As I entered the narrow and elongated product experience area, I was initially struck by what appeared to be a series of paintings adorning the walls. It wasn’t until I noticed the wire slot beneath that I realized the TV was cleverly concealed among these works of art.
The Wall Art TV offers two distinct modes: art mode and television mode. These can be effortlessly toggled using the remote control. While in art mode, the TV displays world-renowned paintings. Samsung's member collection includes 100 masterpieces from 10 different schools, all accessible free of charge. Additionally, users can customize their TV with photos from their mobile phones via an app or a USB drive.
The sleek design ensures minimal space between the TV and the wall. The smart hub, similar to that of Samsung’s latest Optic Quality Sub-Dot TV, hides cables to maintain a clean home environment. Beyond wall mounting, the TV can also be displayed on a base or supported by a triangular bracket.
Equipped with both a brightness sensor and a motion detector, the TV adjusts its settings based on the surrounding environment. For instance, it switches to energy-saving mode when no one is around and reactivates art mode upon detecting movement.
The frame's thickness rivals that of an iPhone 7. Samsung’s logo is discreetly placed on the side of the frame, ensuring it doesn’t detract from the overall aesthetic. To blend seamlessly with various home interiors, the TV comes with interchangeable frames in retro dark brown, elegant peach wood, and moonlight white.
The peach wood frame offers a warm, inviting touch, while the dark brown frame provides a more classic and sophisticated look. The frame is designed to be easily detached and replaced, allowing for customization to suit individual preferences.
With a 4K resolution screen available in 55-inch and 65-inch options, the Painted Wall Art TV is priced at 15,999 yuan for the 55-inch model and 23,999 yuan for the 65-inch version. It will soon be available for purchase at Red Star Macalline, Left and Right Furniture, and Tmall’s Small Black Box.
