What is a plasma TV

Plasma display screen PDP is a display device using gas discharge, this screen uses a plasma cavity as a light-emitting element. A large number of plasma chambers are arranged together to form a screen. The screen body of the plasma display screen is composed of two glass plates separated by hundreds of microns, which is isolated from the air. Each plasma chamber is filled with inert gas such as neon xenon, sealed in the plasma chamber between the two layers of glass. Ultraviolet light will be generated to stimulate the red, green and blue phosphors on the flat panel display to emit visible light. Each ion cavity acts as a pixel, and its working mechanism is similar to that of ordinary fluorescent lamps. The combination of light and dark and color changes of these pixels produces various grayscale and color images, and the TV color image is synthesized by the luminescence of individual pixels.
Compared with the traditional CRT TV set, the most prominent feature of PDP TV set is "large and thin". Other features are also reflected in:
(1) Thin and light structure. Due to the thin and light characteristics of the PDP display module, the overall structural characteristics of the display screen are determined, and the increase in display size does not require a corresponding increase in the thickness of the screen body.
(2) Wide viewing angle. PDP can achieve the same wide angle of view as CRT, with up to 160 degrees above and below. The viewing angle of the liquid crystal (LCD) in the horizontal direction is generally about 120 degrees, and it is even less in the vertical direction.
(3) Prevent electromagnetic interference. Due to differences in display principles, electromagnetic interference from the outside world, such as motors and speakers, has little effect on the PDP image. In contrast, CRT is significantly more disturbed by electromagnetic fields.
(4) There is no distortion in flat images. The RGB grid of PDP is evenly distributed on the plane, while the inner surface is not flat in a flat CRT, which will cause the typical pincushion distortion. And when the local brightness of the picture is not uniform, CRT often also produces corresponding image distortion, and PDP does not have this phenomenon.
(5) No problems of convergence and focusing.
Plasma TVs are high-tech electronic products, which are relatively unfamiliar to many customers. Many people are cautious when using them because they do not understand their principles, so they cannot fully enjoy the enjoyment brought by plasma TVs. In fact, the service life of plasma TV sets is about twice that of ordinary TV sets. If the service life of an ordinary TV is 10 years, then the plasma can be used for about 20 years, and the plasma TV is superior to the ordinary TV in many aspects such as display, color, appearance, etc., so the plasma TV is the future development of TV direction.
In use, it is just the same as using a normal TV. Generally, you do n’t need to pay special attention (unless otherwise specified in the manual), because the mirror surface of the plasma TV has a special coating. Do not wipe the mirror surface with water or chemical solution when cleaning. , Wipe with a clean soft cloth, try to avoid damage to the mirror surface by other substances.
Disadvantages: Because R, G, and B phosphors are used for self-illumination, and images are displayed in a fixed pixel addressing mode, when displaying high-brightness, high-contrast still images for a long time, it is easy to produce residual images and even burn the screen. Therefore, when watching TV, the TV brightness and contrast should be reduced as much as possible without affecting normal viewing.

PDP is a display technology that uses gas discharge, and the specific working principle is very similar to fluorescent lamps. PDP uses a plasma tube as a light-emitting element, each plasma tube on the screen corresponds to a pixel, the screen uses glass as a substrate, the substrate is separated by a certain distance, and the surroundings are hermetically sealed to form a discharge space, and the discharge space is filled with neon , Xenon and other mixed inert gases.
Two glass substrates are used as the working medium, and the inner surface of the glass substrate is coated with a metal oxide conductive film as the excitation electrode. When voltage is applied to the electrode, the gas mixture in the discharge space will cause plasma discharge phenomenon, also known as plasma effect. The gas plasma discharge generates ultraviolet rays, and the ultraviolet rays excite the fluorescent screen coated with red, green, and blue phosphors, and the fluorescent screen emits visible light and displays an image. When each color unit achieves 256 levels of gray and then mixes colors, color display is achieved.
From the perspective of working principle, PDP technology has obvious differences compared with other display methods, and is one step ahead in terms of structure and composition.
PDP is a self-luminous display technology, does not require a background light source, so there is no problem of viewing angle and brightness uniformity. The design of the three-color phosphors sharing the same plasma tube also avoids the problem of focusing and convergence, and can achieve very clear images.
From a technical point of view, since the luminous plasma tubes in the PDP are evenly distributed in the plane, the center and edge of the displayed image are completely consistent, no distortion occurs, and a true pure plane is realized without any image distortion. There is no electron beam movement in the display process, and there is no need to resort to electromagnetic fields, so the external electromagnetic fields will not interfere with it, and it has good environmental adaptability.
