Li Yanhong highlighted three key drivers behind AI's growth: continuous innovation in algorithms, decreasing computing costs, and the massive volume of data being generated—especially in China, where over 750 million internet users contribute to a vast and rapidly expanding dataset. He also used the automotive industry as an example, explaining how AI is reshaping it through vertical integration, impacting everything from manufacturing to services.
He went on to say that AI is not just changing one sector but all industries, from real estate to healthcare, logistics, and energy. “We live in a great era,†he said, “one where we can witness and even take part in a technological revolution as significant as the industrial revolution.â€
In his speech, Li humorously mentioned that while previous speakers didn’t use slides, he felt PPTs were necessary to clearly convey his points. He showed a graph comparing China’s internet user growth with GDP growth, pointing out that the former had slowed down significantly, signaling the end of the internet’s demographic boom.
He then transitioned into AI, noting that it is now the main driver of growth, much like the early days of the internet. He listed three factors fueling AI’s rise: breakthroughs in machine learning algorithms, increasing computing power, and the rapid expansion of data generation.
The automotive industry, he argued, is a prime example of AI’s transformative potential. As companies like Baidu, Ford, and Daimler collaborate, the entire supply chain—from chipmakers to automakers—is being redefined.
In closing, Li expressed optimism about AI’s future, saying it will continue to surprise and reshape the world. “This is a moment we should cherish,†he concluded, “because we are living through a historic shift that will impact all of us.â€
